Canadian Dental Care Plan

For the moment, the program has been put in place, but several details remain to be worked out, including the reimbursements to patients. As we want to participate in the program, without exposing our patients to certain ambiguous situations, we prefer to wait until these issues are resolved, in order to offer the best possible service to our customers. Thank you for your understanding.

Questions on Tooth Decay Care

How do cavities develop?

Tooth decay/Cavities form in the presence of bacteria, due to poor eating and oral health habits, and when your salivary and immune system are compromised.

What is the best way to prevent cavities?

The best way to prevent tooth decay is to brush your teeth twice a day using tartar control toothpaste, and to clean your teeth daily using tooth floss.

What is fluoride?

Certain patients may benefit from higher fluoride protection. This can be achieved using a toothpaste with a higher concentration of fluoride, by rinsing with a specifically tailored mouthwash or by regularly applying fluoride varnish during semi-yearly appointments.

In some cases where tooth decay is at its first stage of development, it can be treated by remineralizing the affected tooth in the hopes of avoiding its restoration. It is then recommended to have a highly concentrated fluoride varnish applied every six months as a preventative measure and to ensure better protection.
